Julien Da Sylva was born in La Rochefoucauld (France), in 1977. He got his PhD degree in Materials Science in 2005 at the Université de Picardie Jules Verne d'Amiens (France). During his PhD, he established a new original model describing the anchoring of ferroelectric liquid crystal confined in thin cell. Nowadays he is doing research on the optical detector based on liquid crystal technology.
