Chris Desimpel

Chris Desimpel was born in Roeselare, in 1977. In 2000 he graduated in electronic engineering at the University of Ghent and joined the LCD-group. Nowadays he is doing research on the optical aspects of liquid crystal displays, in particular he is concentrating on birefringence and diffraction to improve viewing-angle characteristics of liquid crystal displays.

On May 11th 2006, he successfully defended his PhD thesis in public and earned the title of Doctor of Electrical Engineering.

The research of C. Desimpel was supported by the Flemish Institute for Scientific and Technological Research in Industry (IWT).
